Daily Journal Continued June 18,1998, By-William Thomas Thompson The smoke over Saint Augustine Florida and the heat. Spending the night at the GuestHouse Motel at exit 95,I opened the door to that awful odor again with burning eyes and crossed over to the new Hardees for a biscuit and gravy that was cold but they treated me so great in this clean new service station combination until I,their only customer, did not complain. The white haze made visibility very poor and with a heavy chest,I knew I must get out of here soon. I headed for the beach with one last look at the fort as I drove by and turned North on highway 1 when I should have taken A1A for fresh air off the ocean to go up to Jacksonville Beach near where Buck has his business. I receiv- ed in my mind clear courage during the night as I lay awake with all this on my mind. I knew Buck had some big questions to ask me because I had heard the rumblings. This is a time when nobody but me can answer. I thought I would die if I had to drive that awful traffic in the smoke out beach Blvd. I prayed for answers from God to give me wisdom and to know the future of this place. Is it all down the drain that I see here in a major art message that I see to do for others. It looks today like Hell is already here for people and tourist in this part of Florida. The temperature near 100 degrees,I am feeling very weak and would be discouraged except I remember that my mission is to obey and serve God. Then I drive North and cut through a road marked 217 East just guess- ing that I was on target and I was but a draw bridge happened to be drawn up and I had to wait for all those sails to pass feeling that my car would melt with me in it. I was soon at Jacksonville Beach and was soon driving into Buck's place where he had sweat running down his neck and had a very bad cold maybe from the heat and smoke. Buck had lots on his mind buying land next to his land there and selling land adjoining the fort where a theater company is buying up so much,he rejected their offer of 100 thousand per acre. This was where he had promised me that I could grow orangic tomatoes. I advised him to sell it. All this seems to be a real big deal for me and I continue to have thoughts to cancel it all. It is impossible to work in this heat and conditions unbearable. Psalms33-13"The Lord looketh from Heaven; He beholdeth all men" The meeting was very friendly,Buck ask me to count the total cost of all the things I plan to do. He also ask what I was going to do first. I said, first,I will do the nature walk. While art is to be first, the clearing out for a nature walk is necessary to hang the permanent outdoor art on the chain link fence all the way in- side the complex. I plan the entire Bible to be illustrated with a large portion of the text to be painted in large letters on the fence panels to give a daily message for those who walk it and a one time message to those who see it,I plan to make it attractive to all those who visit it. Art in my opinion should walk and talk and even play music. Art is a great and powerful communicator. I feel inspiration to paint a world message of repentance before God Almighty before it is too late. I seek nothing for myself. I would quit immediately if it were for me. These are not my words, they are the inspired words by the Holy Spirit. I paint for the glory of God and that alone. I paint the word of God. All God ask of us is service, not our own smarts,Let us serve God wholly,Holy.
